Hello and welcome to our page. This year the staff in Nursery are Mrs Gallimore (EYFS Leader and class teacher) and Mrs Richardson (EYS).
As we settle more into the Primary Writing Project, the children are gaining confidence with a range of stories. To start summer term our stories are The Gingerbread Man and The Rainbow Fish. We have an exciting range of activities to complete with the children about these stories including making and decorating gingerbread, drawing story maps and learning about fish and animals environments.
In maths and phonics this term, we are splitting the class to ensure that the learning children are doing is relevant for them. For the children moving to Reception in September, they will be following Read Write Inc (our phonics programme) closely and looking at recognising digits and number problems in maths. Our children who will be staying in Nursery next year will be completing a range of phonics activities linked to Letters & Sounds: Environmental Sounds. This means they will be completing listening walks and playing games which will help them to differentiate various sounds we hear everyday. In Maths they will be learning to confidently count to 5 and begin recognising digits.
We will continue to attend the library once a week to choose stories to take home. We encourage the children to choose their own books and for you to read them together at home. This will in the future link to the Read Every Day awards that are run throughout the rest of the school. McKee attend the library on a Wednesday morning and Ahlberg attend on a Thursday afternoon.
PE will be done on a Friday- we request that children come to Nursery in tracksuit bottoms on a Friday and a white t-shirt so they are ready to do PE and don't have to worry about getting changed. They also need suitable footwear such as plimsolls or trainers. As we move into the summer months we may begin to do PE outside- please ensure your child has trainers on every Friday. Within PE we will be completing yoga to link to good mental well-being and trying to climb on apparatus.
If you have any worries or concerns, please speak to Mrs Gallimore or Mrs Richardson straight away so that we can solve any problems you or your children may have.
