Year 1 - Potter

Welcome to Potter Class
with Mrs Carter & Ms Gamble

This half term we are learning about Traditional Tales.

English & Phonics - We will have daily Read Write Inc sessions to practice our phonics and word reading. In English lessons we will be retelling some traditional tales, changing some of it and writing our own.

Maths - We are working on place value as well as adding and subtracting in many different ways.

Science - We'll be learning about body parts!

Computing - We'll explore the basics of programming.

PE - We will be working our basic movements skills; jumping, running, throwing and catching as well as developing balance, agility and co-ordination. Our PE Days are Monday & Wednesday. However, these days may change at any time so please have your PE kit in school every day.

Reading books - Please bring to school every day, however, we will change them twice a week (Monday and Wednesday). Read 5x week to earn a RED award, six RED awards and you'll earn a prize! Remember that any reading counts - it can be the reading book, bedtime story, Bug Club, the library book and so on. Plus it doesn't even have to be the whole book!

Library books - We go to the school library on a Tuesday.

Maths homework - Children will get one page of homework every Wednesday in their Maths homework booklet. We'll text you to let you know what page it is - if unsure, please ask Mrs Carter or Ms Gamble.  Please return on Monday.

Spellings - We send up to 5 words home every Friday to be tested the following Friday.
