Year 1 - Potter

Welcome to Potter Class

with Mrs Schiever and Ms Gamble

The second half of the Autumn Term will start off with an exciting new text, based on a traditional tale. We will be including some aspects of this in our topic work. We will be learning about The Gunpowder Plot, as well as the human body. There are lots of colourful art activities coming up as well!

Our Maths for the half term will focus on addition and subtraction, as well as shapes and patterns.

Children should read at home every day (so they can earn their RED awards) and we will change their reading books twice a week. We will also change our library books once a week.

PE kits need to be at school every day, as we have a variety of PE lessons, as well as extra sporting activities. Please ensure that a bag with a white t-shirt, black shorts and a pair of trainers or plimsolls is at school every day.

Information for Parents: The Phonics Screening Check

The phonics screening check is a short, simple test taken by Year 1 children in England each June to assess their reading ability. Parents can watch our short video to find out what happens during the check and why it's useful.
