The second half of summer term sees us finding out about the Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch. We will be finding out about different materials and looking at features and facilities in our local area.
Summer 1 sees Rosen class looking at the Isle of Struay and all things Katie Morag. We will be looking at the differences between her Gandmas, imagining we are writing to her, drawing a map of the island and comparing the island to Luton. We will also be looking at the joys of spring and how the seasons differ.
Our PE will remain on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
In the second half of spring term, Rosen class are finding out all about Julia Donaldson books. We have been up to the woods and made Gruffalos, Gruffalo dens, logpiles for the snake, nests for the owl and found nuts for the mouse. We also made our own Stickman, we found him a family tree, made him a leaf bed, we also practised throwing him, playing cricket with him and turning him into a flag.
Autumn term was a lot of fun, as we learnt about a variety of traditional tales. In Spring 1 we found out about another traditional tale...we climbed a beanstalk and looked for the treasure at the top, and hoped not to be chased away...
It was our turn to do Forest School during the first half of spring term. We did loads of fun activities - we built fairy villages, found out about fruit and vegetables and built fires. In Science we planted our beans to see whether we could grow our own beanstalks.
Welcome to Rosen Class
The second half of the Autumn term has started in great form, with porridge making, puppet making and castle making. We have continued on the theme of food, as we have made Gingerbread Men, in order to help us write instructions. We are learning about Traditional tales, and we have looked at Goldilocks with her porridge, the Gingerbread Man and will be learning about Cinderella in her castle.
We are also going to be spending time finding out about the Gunpowder Plot and Guy Fawkes.
Our PE this term is on Tuesdays and Wednesdays - please make sure your child is not wearing earrings on these days. PE kit is usually a white t-shirt, black shorts (if we are outside children may wear track suit bottoms and a jumper/tracksuit top) and a pair of plimsolls or trainers.
Our library day is on Thursday, so please remember to send in the library book that day.
Homework will be sent home on a Wednesday and should be returned on a Monday.
We went on an exciting adventure to Stockwood Discovery Centre last half term and found out how hats were made. We learned lots about African fruit, animals and Nelson Mandela. As we were studying Handa's Surprise.
