Welcome to Rosen Class

with Mr Bates, Miss Mckenzie & Miss Jones

As we enter the second half of spring term, year 1 are learning about Corduroy Bear and Little Bear - who goes for a walk.

Within this we are going to be learning to give computers simple algorithms or instructions, finding out about the different materials that toys are made from and why they are made from those materials. We are also going to find out about what toys in the past were made from.

In our maths focus we will be doing more place value work, adding, subtracting, measuring and learning to use these number facts in real-life situations.

The children will need to do their reading at home each evening, and we will change the childrens' reading books every Monday.

The children need to have their PE kit in school every day (PE is usually on a Monday and Thursday) - this includes a white T-shirt, a pair of black shorts (or track suit bottoms when it is cold) and a pair of trainers or plimsolls.

Information for Parents: The Phonics Screening Check

The phonics screening check is a short, simple test taken by Year 1 children in England each June to assess their reading ability. Parents can watch our short video to find out what happens during the check and why it's useful.
