Year 1 – Rosen

Welcome to Rosen Class

with Mr Bates, Miss Mckenzie & Miss Jones

As we go into our second half term, we will be participating in a whole range of different activities.

This term we will be learning about a traditional tale. We will also be looking at the "Gun Powder Plot" in history and PE and exploring "what makes a human" in science. In RE we will be looking at celebrations . Our maths will include subtracting, shapes and patterns and ordinal numbers (I wonder, what is an ordinal number?).

The children will need to do their reading at home each evening, and we will change the childrens' reading books twice a week.

The children need to have their PE kit in school every day (PE is usually on a Monday and Thursday) - this includes a white T-shirt, a pair of black shorts (or track suit bottoms when it is cold) and a pair of trainers or plimsolls.

Information for Parents: The Phonics Screening Check

The phonics screening check is a short, simple test taken by Year 1 children in England each June to assess their reading ability. Parents can watch our short video to find out what happens during the check and why it's useful.
