This half-term we will be reading Street Child by Berlie Doherty.
English- In English we will be following the 'Talk for Writing' structure. We will be studying a 'Warning Tale' called 'The Caravan'. This is a story where our main character ignores a warning that he has been given which nearly has dangerous consequences. The children will be learning the story, innovating and then writing their very own 'Warning Tale'.
Maths- We will be recapping place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division (both mental strategies and written). We will be looking at a range of arithmetic skills and reasoning problems.
Science- This half-term, Year 6 will be learning about the human body. In particular, we will be learning about the heart, the circulation system, the respiratory system and how to keep healthy.
History- Crime & Punishment. We will be learning about crime & punishment in different time periods with a particular focus on the Victorian times as this is when our book 'Street Child' is set.
Children will need to read everyday at home. They will come home each day with a reading book and a reading record. Please make sure these are signed to show that the children have read. The class are able to change their book whenever they have finished their last book. We will be hoping to win the RED award as much as possible in Kipling class!
Maths & spelling homework is sent home on a Monday and is due in on a Friday each week.
PE Days- Our PE days are Tuesday & Thursday.
