Class Text -Friend or Foe

 

This term year 6 topic book is 'Friend or Foe' by Michael Morpurgo.

Evacuated from London, David and Tucky feel like the war was along way away from their new life in the countryside. Then one night the skyline of the moor was lit up with gun flashes, and the distant crump of bombing miles away brings the war back to them and shattered their new-found peace.



English

Using The text Friend or Foe children will be able to develop their vocabulary and use of sentence structure to create a range of English genres. They will focus on character description;

plan their writing by discussing and recording ideas;

identify point of view from which the story is told;

select characters and role play from their point of view.

Diary entry in role of a character; use writing as a model for their own; draw inference and justify these with evidence; develop persuasive techniques and varied shifts in their writing- formal and informal.



Mathematics

This term year 6 will continue to develop their understanding of number. Solve problems involving measure, deciding which operations and methods to use and why; Written multiplication and division formal written methods; Calculate the volume of 3D shapes, recognise angles and their properties, describe position on the full coordinate, translation, illustrate and name parts of a circle Use negative numbers in context, and calculate intervals across zero.Properties of number. Identify common factors, common multiples and prime numbers.


Forest School

They will be exploring the wild life area, Bramingham woods and writing stories ,peoms and diary entry from their experience..
 

Homework


RED and NED homework - each week pupils will be given RED and NED homework. This needs to be completed each night and signed by an adult. Regular number work and reading helps your child greatly so please encourage and support us with this.
If your child is finding homework difficult please see your class teacher.


Remember we have RED & NEDS awards to win .... so get reading!

 

 


Our PE day is: Wednesday

Please make sure that PE clothing is appropriate for the weather conditions.
